A pair of images captured on a hazy morning in early summer. The view over Swinsty Reservoir towards Knabs Ridge Wind Farm, and, after the sun had risen, hazy layers across Farnley.
The Norwood Edge Radio Mast peeps through a deep winter temperature inversion, with the entire Washburn Valley engulfed in thick, rolling fog.
Winter minimalism. Another occasion when the Radio Mast was the only visible feature above an inversion, and a lone angler on the shoreline of Fewston Reservoir.
Spring greens start to emerge above Swinsty and a telephoto image highlighting form and texture in Leathley.
Foggy conditions in Lindley. The group of trees frame the setting moon and an image of the rural landscape having finally gotten above the inversion.
The rising sun illuminates the mist as it rolls across the landscape between Farnley and Almscliffe Crag...
...moments later and the light is less dynamic, enabling me to place more emphasis on the textures in the scene.
An image captured from the same spot in late summer; the sun rises directly in the frame creating a completely different mood.
Timble Ings is a plantation woodland above Fewston Reservoir with small pockets of old growth scattered amongst the pines. I captured this isolated seasonal colour during a very wet wander in late autumn.
A pair of images captured amongst the plantation pines.
This scene put me in mind of soldiers carrying an injured comrade. On my next visit the broken birch had completely decayed and was lying on the woodland floor.
